T1 She was a waitress, completely inept at dealing with the impending doom she was about to face. It's also thrilling in my eyes, but I predominantly believe that the idea James Cameron had was to have our protagonist, Sarah, feeling completely helpless in a situation that she can't comprehend. Having a futuristic machine who feels no pain, that you cannot reason with and has a directive that won't cease until he murders you because your unborn son is the saviour of humanity is pretty fucking horrific in my eyes. Kyle Reese never stood a chance against the T800, he pretty much states that in his monologue to Sarah. Sarah was constantly fleeing, as was Ripley. Centuries later, it is awakened by stealth Terminators posing as human scientists.I'd argue that Alien still had the same horror elements as Terminator though.Īnd as Thrillers encapsulate several genre's, including horror - I'd say the switch up was equal for both.
